Dark Knight!

If you did not like this movie there is something wrong with you. Of all the superhero movies that they have made over the past 10 years this one is hands down the best of the bunch. See it on the big screen with digital projection. It looks amazing and the performances by Heath Ledger and Aaron Eckhart were stellar. All thumbs up from this fan.

Thanks to some scholar we have these awesome stats.

Grambo kills again and better

Kind of makes you wonder how much of a threat there is to our national security when a head of a University study group on national security had the time to compile this.

28 weeks later

As my friends are well aware my wife and I are big movie nerds. I am not a big horror movie fan but we recently went to see 28 weeks later and it was perhaps the best film I have seen since Pans Labrinthe. If you have no seen either of these films check them out.

In the coming weeks I am looking forward to several more films especially Shrek the Third. The first 2 Shrek films have been filled with some of the best pop culture references of any film I have ever seen and I expect the 3rd one will not let me down. On the summer blockbuster list I want to see the Transformers movie. I know it is a Michael Bay film and that it is going to be crap but it should be some marvelous eye candy. Finally I want to see the latest installment of the Bourne series. These have been some of the best action films made in the past 10 years and Matt Damon pulls it off well. The last one on my list is sure to be another stinker but my comic book nerd fanboy side is played like a puppet when you mention the Silver Surfer and it just so happens the 2nd Fantastic Four film (the 1st was terrible) is all about my man and his cosmic surfboard. Perhaps we may see a trace of Galactus? We shall find out soon enough.

Art, 5 miles and a double feature.

Friday evening a friend of mine Mark Bradley Shoup had an art opening at the Tanner Hill Gallery on Broad Street in South Chattanooga. This is a very nice gallery in a great location. I ran into a number of my friends there and I drank a bit to much free wine but enjoyed a great dinner at the St. John’s Meeting Place afterwards.

Saturday I went over to the river walk in between rain storms and ran 5 miles. I love running on the River Walk in the rain for 2 reasons, first there are no people there and second there are no major hills. During this rainy run I passed about 5 people. The great news for me during this run was that I upped my usual slow running pace by about 1 minute per mile. I came in on this run at a few seconds over 50 minutes for 5 miles which almost cuts 5 minutes off my average times at this distance. This is good news as far as my 1/2 marathon is concerned. I still will not be running the entire distance but my plan is to run 5 miles walk 3 and then run out the remaining 5.1 miles to the finish line.

Sunday I went to the theater and saw the Grindhouse double feature. The length of the film was a bit much as my ass was hurting by the end but the films were campy and amusing and it was nice to get 2 for the price of one.
