One of the best vacation beach house locations I have ever been to. Long white sandy beaches, moderate sized waves good for body surfing and pleasant fall weather. Add on lots of Bloodies, Mojito&#8217;s and ice cold beer and you have the makings of a stress free week.<\/p>\n<p>We started the vacation with a night of camping at <a title=\"Huntington Beach State Park\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps\/place?cid=14681327729735995637&amp;q=Huntington+Beach+State+Park&amp;cd=1&amp;ei=w7mcTOTZBJ-sNavspdoG&amp;sig2=G_Psg4itAKeTOzvBBxgJ-w&amp;dtab=0&amp;sll=37.0625,-95.677068&amp;sspn=23.875,57.630033&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;ll=33.521075,-79.078903&amp;spn=0,0&amp;z=15&amp;iwloc=lyrftr:m,14681327729735995637,33.510985,-79.065943\" target=\"_blank\">Huntington Beach state park<\/a>. The park was the former home of sculptor Anna Hyatt\u00a0Huntington and her husband who donated the land to the state of South Carolina after their home was destroyed by a hurricane.\u00a0On our final day before we drove home we stopped at <a title=\"Brookgreen Gardens\" href=\"http:\/\/www.brookgreen.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Brookgreen Gardens<\/a>, adjacent to Huntington Beach State Park to check out their famous sculpture gardens containing many of Anna Hyatt\u00a0Huntington sculptures. It might be catnip for old people and tourists but it was plenty beautiful.<\/p>\n<p>Before leaving we ran through Murrel&#8217;s Inlet for some lunch on the water at <a title=\"Spuds\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/?ie=UTF8&amp;ll=33.556667,-79.031525&amp;spn=0.01021,0.01811&amp;z=16\" target=\"_blank\">Spud&#8217;s Waterfront Dining<\/a> where I got a lunch seafood platter consisting of some perfectly poached flounder and scallops.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Just returned from a weeks vacation at Pawleys Island, SC and what a great time we had.
