Biking Legislation

Posted in Cycling, Politics on November 11th, 2008 by drewcifer

Congressman Earl Blumenauer added some new legislation to the $700 billion bailout that helps employers encourage bicycle commuting. The Bicycle Commuter Act of 2009 allows employers who sign up for the program to allow a fringe benefit of $20 per month for employees towards the purchase of a bicycle, bicycle parts or repairs.

Politics of fear continues

Thanks John McCain, you truly are a Maverick. Especially when it comes to completely cloning the Bush campaign methods to spread fear to undecided voters. So far I have seen you paint Barak Obama as unqualified to lead in the post 9/11 era. This seems odd considering that the current leader of our country has failed at absolutely everything he has ever undertaken and I am including his current job in that.

Now you are painting him as the candidate who is going to lose all of my life’s savings. This strikes me as really odd when you get to the facts of the current state of the economy. From my eyes my life savings are already going away thanks to the mortgage meltdown. This is the same meltdown that your chief economic adviser Phil Gramm was key in creating this mess by stripping all checks and balances and regulation from the banking industry helping them make record profits while putting hundreds of thousands of US homeowners hanging. Now that the profits are gone we are supposed to pony up the cash to bail them out. Not only bail out all these banks who made risky investments with our money but bail them out with absolutely no conditions attached. Perhaps you should kick Phil off the campaign trial and read some of William Grieder’s books because he seems to have a grasp of what is going on. If you really think that John McCain is going to be the responsible one with your taxes maybe this will help.

In response to your fear campaign it is not going to work. American voters fell for this in the past 2 elections but thanks to the catastrophe of Huricane Katrina and your pal George’s complete failure to respond the people have finally woken up. Perhaps you should take a trip to the big easy and see how all of our aid has helped them down there. Oh yeah, I forgot, you would rather not talk about Katrina in hopes that people will not notice that you keep voting against further aid programs to help in the rebuilding.

I am crossing my fingers that the culture of stupid that you and your republicans so desire is gone for good.

John McCain’s economic advisor

His name is Phil Gramm and he has had his hands on most of the major legislation that has created the current mortgage crisis. Wanna know more? Look here.

If you are suffering from a pending forclosure and ou are thinking about voting for another repulican you may want to think twice. They take the primary responsibility for this problem.

Thanks to some scholar we have these awesome stats.

Grambo kills again and better

Kind of makes you wonder how much of a threat there is to our national security when a head of a University study group on national security had the time to compile this.

Ever feel you have been cheated?

I like to imagine George out on a cocaine binge screwing Saddam and Ossama from behind.

After the last election when the Democrats took the house and senate I exhaled a great sigh of relief that finally some oversight over the Bush administration would come to Washington and hopefully reign that crazy bastard in. All those hopes were destroyed the other day when the Senate approved the presidents Domestic spying program rather than shutting it down. What they have done in case you were not paying attention is made it perfectly legal for the Bush Administration and his lackeys to spy on you without any judicial approval.

Yes, that is correct, they made it legal. I have always told you hard core Democrats that they are the biggest bunch of spineless idiots imaginable and given the chance would screw things up worse than they already are. This is the proof in the pudding. When they should be starting impeachment hearings on the President and his yes men for the myriad of lies and scandals they are involved in they go and give him the unchecked power he needs to become a more effective tyrant. Thanks guys, way to go!

This got me to thinking. Why would they cave in and give him this power and it occurred to me that since they are still very likely to win the next presidential election it sure is convenient that they pushed this through while a majority of the Republican Minority still support the president. It sure does make it easier to get Republican votes when the legislation is giving more power to the Republican president. Then when they take the election they will have the same power and in the hands of those idiots look out.

We should all be very afraid of the dark path this country is turning down. When both major parties are in cahoots to spy on the citizens of this country where do we turn? Is there even the possibility of a 3rd party to rise up and challenge the authority of those two? Have the 2 parties even allowed room for this to happen any more? I sure hope so!

Wish me luck this Sunday at 7:00 AM as I compete in the Sports Barn Sprint Triathlon.

Makes we want to scream.

I find it very difficult to not run out into the street and bang my head against concrete sidewalks. Watching the news is the most frustrating thing in the world. As the shit hits the fan in Iraq ans as the world bakes due to global warming the media reports on the every move of Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan. Meanwhile, the most corrupt administration in the history of the United States continues to sink this country even further into the depths of hell. New allegations have emerged that the previous Surgeon General was put on a gag order at the expense of peoples health due to the administrations simpleton ideological views. Then to top it all of we have Micheal Chertoff telling us that his magical gut has a feeling there is going to be some new terrorist activity and the big man himself repeating the same old lies about how the people in Iraq causing the problems now are the same ones responisble for the attack on 9-11.

It boggles the mind how Bush’s approval rating is still in the 30’s and not dropped down into the teens. This latest bit of info just really sums it all up. It seems that a recent report from the pentagon shows that the “no bid” contracts given out to 2 companies to produce the much needed armored vehicles has in fact been given the contract when it was known they would take longer. The reality of the situation is that the product they have delivered is less than stellar and is way behind schedule. So all this talk about how not supporting the war is putting our troops at risk is laughable when compared to the way our administration is supporting our troops which is actually putting them at risk. The fat cats get richer and richer while our troops get killed.
